Tawse-Smith Family

I had a wonderful weekend with Kelsey. It began on Thursday evening. Derek was away for the evening working so Kelsey and I went to Jack Astor's for dinner.

On friday, I drove Kelsey to school and picked her up at 4:30 p.m. then we (Derek, Kelsey and I) went to May Gardens (chinese food) for my birthday Dinner.

On Saturday we went to Lunenburg with Kelsey for her wrestling match. She did extremely well. She had three matches. Her first match was going great, but then the other girl pinned her down. It was still a great match and the other girl was much taller than Kels. For the second match Kelsey lost by one point, again a good match. The opponent was about Kelsey's size but you could tell that she was a seasoned wrestler. The third match was the best and Kelsey did lose by one point but only because the ref wasn't doing his job. They had already thrown in the towel and Kelsey was two points ahead of the other girl, but the ref said that he didn't see the towel and had already given the opponent three points, which meant that she won by one point. Kelsey's coach even went up and tried to dispute the extra points but he ref would not change his decision.

Anyways, Kelsey had lots of fun, she was very happy with her matches, and we were very proud of her. Her school did very well in the tournament and Kelsey is really looking forward to the next tournament which is at the end of the month in Cape Breton.

I am looking forward to seeing her wrestle again in the near future.

On a funnier note, on Sunday, Derek was telling Kelsey that she could practice her wrestling on him, and I kept telling him that I didn't want him to hurt her, so eventually I gave in and said, OK Kelsey, if you want to wrestling him lets go to the family room downstairs where there is carpeting.

So, downstairs we went. Well, Kelsey got into position, grabbed Derek by the legs and flipped him onto his back. He was stunned and all I could do was laugh. They got up and in position again and Kelsey grabbed him and put him down a second time. That was it. Derek got up and had to admit that Kelsey could kick his butt at wrestling.

It was really funny. Wish I would have had the camera ready for that.
